India went in with an all-pace attack in the ongoing Perth Test and by the end of the first session, it seemed that the move has backfired on the visitors. The green top turned out to be a much better strip for batting as the Australian openers Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch looked comfortable. But since the post-lunch session, the pendulum has swung dramatically with the pitch quickening up a bit. Moreover, the fielders are also supporting the bowlers with the captain Virat Kohli leading from the front.

The tourists won the second session with some exceptional bowling. They managed to pick three wickets and bossed the game during an hour before Tea. Australia were three down and needed a partnership to build in order to claim the honours on the opening day of the game.

The third session began with the scales of the proceedings in the balance. Peter Handscomb began with a confident punch off the backfoot just to gain some much-needed confidence.

Kohli stuns the crowd

After a tight over from Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma was handed over the ball from the other end. The lanky fast bowler bowled a back of a length delivery close to the batsman which Handscomb tried to cut on the up. But the disconcerting bounce on the pitch got big on him and it took the edge of his bat.

The ball flew between the second slip and gully and was travelling at the rate of knots. But Virat Kohli, at the former position, leapt up and threw his hand in the air and the ball stuck in his hands to stun everyone at the stadium. It was such a quick reaction from the Indian captain as he took a blinder to send back Handscomb. He played a poor shot at the first place but it took a special catch from Kohli to convert a tough chance.

The fast bowlers are spitting venom at the moment as the pitch has seriously quickened up and it will be interesting to see how many wickets the visitors manage to pick in the final session.
