Ever since the launch of the Indian Premier League, Australian players have been in high demand in the league. At each of the auctions, Aussies players have grabbed several huge contracts. As we move closer to the IPL auctions of 2021, the rumors regarding the teams going for a particular player has been floating around on the internet.

Fresh reports coming from Australia are suggesting that the Australian players would be needing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia (CA) to go and play in the IPL. It has also been stated that the board can reject a NOC if they see any concerns over health.

The board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has its intentions clear that they want to host the league in India. The decision can raise a few eyebrows as Cricket Australia has shown seriousness towards their concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic. Most recently, CA cancelled their tour of South Africa citing the concerns around the coronavirus pandemic.

We will consider each of those case-by-case: Nick Hockley

Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley has come out and said that they will be giving NOCs to the players on one by one basis. “We have, obviously, got precedent on that from the IPL last year. We have got, obviously, the IPL, if you like, [has] proven its biosecurity protocols. As and when applications are made, we will consider each of those case-by-case, on their merits,” Nick Hockley said as quoted by The New Indian Express.

Several international players of the Australian team are in huge demand at the cash-rich league. Players like David Warner, Pat Cummins, and Glenn Maxwell were picked in the previous seasons. But, this year, several players will be going to the auction. This new piece of information will also make the franchises think whether they want to go for the Aussie players or not.

The next season of the Indian Premier League is expected to start in the early part of April. If that is the case, then we can hope to see the action unfold in India itself. In the 2020 season, 19 Australian players had featured and it is not certain how many will be seen in this year’s IPL.
