Babar Azam turns spinner, grabs wickets in intra-squad match

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is a quality batter and he is currently in red-hot form with the bat. However, the 27-year-old was recently seen showing his antics with the ball as he scalped two wickets during the intra-squad match being played at Rawalpindi on June 30 (Thursday).

One of the off-spinner’s scalps was the left-handed batter Mohammad Nawaz who cut the ball which went straight to the point fielder who completed a straightforward catch. The second scalp was Hasan Ali who was out LBW. As per the video, Babar bowled nine overs including two maidens, giving away 34 runs and picking up two wickets. To note, Babar is also captaining one of the sides, while the former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed is leading the opposition team.

Earlier, Hasan Ali‘s antics also garnered limelight he tried to lift the umpire’s finger after pinning batter Salman Agha with a quick delivery. Hasan’s action left everyone laughing on the field which created a light moment in the match.

Pakistan preparing for its tour to Sri Lanka

Pakistan will be touring Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series against the host nation. The first Test match will start on July 16 in Galle. Colombo  will host the second match which will commence on July 24. Pakistan skipper and prominent batter Babar Azam will lead his team with senior leg-spinner Yasir Shah being recalled for the upcoming tour.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has also confirmed the series. “Pakistan will play a three-day warm-up match between 11-13 July in Colombo while the first Test will be played at Galle from 16-20 July,” SLC said in a statement. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are currently taking on Australia in a two-match Test series.

Australia have gained the lead in the first innings and will be eyeing to win the first Test match and take a lead in the series. The home team will need to bat well in their second innings to make a strong comeback in the match.
