As per the reports, it is believed that Tuffey had met the British duo while training at the New Zealand Cricket Academy at Lincoln and had started to socialize with them in Christchurch.

The two British men were mainly in the country to play second-grade cricket for the Riccarton side and had made several sex videos during their four-month stay.
