Virat Kohli has always been known to have a fiery personality and he never shies away from giving it back to the opposition. As Royal Challengers Bangalore got their third consecutive win in the IPL 2021, Kohli took a dig at the Punjab Kings, whom his team defeated in a close game in Sharjah on Sunday, October 3.

The dig which Kohli took was a reference to an incident that happened in the first leg of matches in India. After winning in a game in Ahmedabad against RCB, Punjab Kings’ social media team had uploaded a picture of the dugout of RCB, which wasn’t in the happiest mood at the time.

As a caption, they wrote, “Yahan pe sab Shanti Shanti hai,” which translates to “Everything is so quiet here.” The RCB social media team had taken it very lightly, replying back to the tweet, “Because we neither go overboard when we win nor over-analyze a loss.” However, the RCB fans on social media didn’t like the post and the Punjab Kings received the heat of the fans on social media. They eventually deleted the post.

With the win over Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore make it to the playoffs

Now, coming back to what happened in the second leg of matches. After winning the match, Kohli was in the dressing room and the footage was being recorded by the social media team of RCB. Kohli was speaking to someone in the background and saying it was good to see the letter ‘Q’ (which stands for qualified to the playoffs) on the side of their name. While walking outside the dressing room, he said, “Bahut Shanti hai aaj’ which means “It’s very peaceful today”.

He was grinning slightly as he walked away. The person who was shooting the footage, with whom Kohli was heard speaking, also laughed a bit. The footage was seen in the RCB’s matchday video on their social media handles.

Kohli’s team now has eight wins in 12 matches and has secured a confirmed spot in the playoffs. Their last two matches are against Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 6 and against Delhi Capitals on October 8. They would be eyeing a top-two spot, as it would give them an extra shot at making it to the final.
