Australia had something to cheer about as their pacer Nathan Ellis got to make his T20I debut against Bangladesh and made it a memorable outing as he picked up a hat-trick. He thus became the first player in T20I history to achieve the feat on debut. Although the Men in Yellow lost the match, the encounter will be forever remembered for Ellis.

The advent of T20 leagues around the world has made youngsters fearless and, they have gone onto do well for their respective countries. Ellis featured in the Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes and did well last year. In this five-match T20I series against Bangladesh, the 26-year-old got an opportunity in the third game, and he grabbed it with both hands.

Speaking about the match, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 127 on a sluggish wicket in Mirpur. Ellis though brought the visitors back by sending Mahmudullah, Mustafizur, and Mahedi Hasan back to the pavilion – thereby also completing a hat-trick in the process. The fast bowler was impressive throughout the game.

Firstly, he sent Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah with an absolute beauty of a delivery, which the batter had no answer to it. Next up, he got Mustafizur with a slower ball and, the hat-trick ball too was slower one which Mehedi Hasan failed to connect and gave an easy catch to deep square leg.

Bangladesh win the T20I series against Australia

Bangladesh have been brilliant in the three T20I games and outclassed Australia by being disciplined in all three departments of the game. With the wicket more suitable for slower bowlers, Bangladesh did an exceptional job right from the start of the game.

In the third match too, Australia fought and almost came within touching distance of overhauling the target 0f 128, but they could not as the home team bowlers led by Shoriful Islam and Nasum Ahmed who, picked up three wickets between them, kept things tight. The series win against Australia in the shortest format was the first one for Bangladesh and, it came with two matches remaining, which speaks volumes of their progress in international cricket.
