Bangladesh announce 15-man squad for Emerging Teams Asia Cup

Bangladesh will lock horns with Hong Kong in the opening fixture of the tournament on November 14.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named a 15-man squad for the upcoming Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Nazmul Hossain Shanto has been handed the skipper’s hat. The tournament will take place in Bangladesh from November 14 to 23. The Bangladesh team includes a number of players from the national squad as well as players from Bangladesh’s High Performance squad.

Bangladesh will compete in Group B where they will have to face a formidable India side. The other two teams of Group B are Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates. Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Oman will be a part of Group A.

Bangladesh will lock horns with Hong Kong in the opening fixture of the tournament on November 14. The game is scheduled at the BKSP’s No. 4 field. Followed by Hong Kong, the Tigers will encounter India and UAE in their next two games. The group matches will take place in Cox’s Bazar and BKSP while the semifinals and the final will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Nov 20, 21 and 23 respectively.

Bangladesh to play the T20I series decider against India

Currently, Bangladesh is touring India where they are scheduled to face the Men in Blue in the third and final T20I. Bangladesh, who have never won silverware in India will be eager to lift their maiden trophy by winning the third T20 International. Bangladesh have shown their potential by registering a thumping 7-wicket win in the first T20I. Mushfiqur Rahim emerged as the talisman for his side by smashing 60 runs off 43 deliveries including 8 fours and a six. He was also awarded ‘Player of the Match’ trophy for his match-winning performance.

Soumya Sarkar, Naim Sheikh, Afif Hossain and Aminul Islam Biplob, who are currently in India have also been included in Bangladesh’s squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. These four players are expected to return to Bangladesh after the conclusion of the T20I series on November 10.
