The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed its desire to host the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy, provided they have the necessary infrastructure to pull off the multi-nation tournament. Nazmul Hasan Papon, the BCB president, put forth the development.

In the 10th meeting of the BCB board of directors, the decision to take part in the host selection process for the ICC Men’s Events (2024-2031) was taken. To take forward the process, a team headed by the BCB CEO has been formed.

Ahmed Sajjadul Alam and Mohammed Jalal Yunus, the BCB directors, will take care of the procedures. In the board meeting, it was also decided that as a top-most agenda, the BCB AGM meeting will take place on July 7 in Dhaka.

”There are lots of issues (in order to solely host the Men’s World Cup). We will need to have 10 full-fledged stadiums. It is the same for whoever is interested to bid for the event. So that is not possible for us because we do not have so many venues.

“Hosting even the T20 World Cup solely is a challenge for us but we will sit and discuss with some of the neighbouring countries to see whether we can become a co-host.

“However there is the Champions Trophy [2025] which is possible for us to host. We have decided to bid to solely host the Champions Trophy,” Hasan told, Cricbuzz reported.

BCB introduces ‘Bangladesh Tiger’ shadow team

The Bangladesh board also extended the tenure of the current selection panel until the next T20 World Cup after their stint ended in June. Moreover, the BCB put forth the concept of a shadow national team, named ‘Bangladesh Tiger’. The program will be taken care of by BCB Directors Kazi Inam Ahmed and Khaled Mahmud  Sujon.

“We decided to introduce the shadow national team as we feel when someone gets dropped from the national team they don’t have any place to go like we can take Imrul Kayes for example so they must have some place to go,” he added.

Hasan also confirmed that the players’ contract list has nearly been finalised, but refrained from disclosing them due to some probable changes.
