Match Details:

The 1st game of the 5-match Youth ODI series between Bangladesh Under-19s and Sri Lanka Under-19s at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.

The match starts at 9:00 AM local time (3:00 AM GMT) (8:30 AM IST).

The 5-match ODI series of Sri Lanka Under-19s in their tour of Bangladesh will start on Saturday in Khulna. Earlier, the rain played a majority role in 2-match Youth Test series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as both the matches ended in a draw. The first Test did not even witness five complete sessions of play. The 2nd Youth Test hosted by Khulna needed one more day to witness an outright result.

Sri Lankans were bowled out for 184 in their first innings. Bangladesh made 354 in response while Sri Lanka declared their 2nd essay at 346/9 to set a target of 177 for the hosts. Bangladesh lost three wickets for 37 runs in the chase before the game ended in a draw. The 2nd and 3rd innings of the match lasted a total of 270 overs which is why there was a shortage of overs.

Weather Condition/Report:

It will be tough to see a match taking place on Saturday. The weather forecast suggests as high as 80% chances of rain during the match.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Khulna’s SANS hasn’t hosted a Youth ODI in the last ten years. Even the last List A / Women’s ODI was six years ago. The venue stood host for a game between Emerging squads earlier this year. The hosts posted 269 in the 50 overs while the Sri Lankan emerging chased a revised DLS target of 199 from 28 overs with 24 balls to spare. We might see decent totals at this venue in both matches during this series.

Expert Advice:

Bangladesh board has not announced any squad for the ODI series. The team that was named for the Youth Tests was quite different from the squad that plays ODIs. A maximum of 5-6 players could be seen playing the One-Dayers from this squad. Hence, we have picked only 5 players from the home team in our fantasy team who played in the Youth ODIs for Bangladesh previously.

Probable Winners:

Bangladesh Under-19s are expected edge past the Sri Lankan team.
