Bangladesh made a significant comeback on the rain affected 3rd day as the Australian lost seven wickets for 152 runs in the 54 overs possible during the day. David Warne scored his 20th Test century to help the team take a first innings lead. Bangladesh bowlers then struck regularly to keep the lead down to 72 runs.

Here we look at all the stats and records created during the day’s play.

2 – This is only the 2nd instance when Australia took a first innings lead in Asia in the last 20 years after conceding 300 in the first innings of a Test. They took a 24-run lead while batting 2nd in last year’s Colombo Test against Sri Lanka after they posted 355 in their 1st innings.

3 – Mustafizur Rahman’s three wickets in the Australian 1st innings is only the 2nd instance for a Bangladesh pacer with a 3-fer in the last seven years at home. Mustafizur picked up a 4-wicket haul on his debut in 2015.

6 – David Warner is now only the 6th non-Asian opener to score centuries in consecutive innings in Tests in Asia. He is the 2nd Australian opener after Bob Simpson to score consecutive Test hundreds in Asia.

6 – Number of Australian players who have scored centuries including Warner in consecutive Test innings in Asia. Bob Simpson, Allan Border, Damien Martyn, Michael Clarke and Mike Hussey (twice) are the other five Australians to score consecutive Test hundreds in Asia.

20 – Number of centuries in Test cricket for David Warner. Since his debut in December 2011, only Steven Smith has scored as many as 20 centuries in Tests.

20 – David Warner’s 20 Test centuries as an opener are the 2nd most by an Australian opener in Test cricket. Matthew Hayden has scored 30 Test tons as an opener.

250 – Runs Australia added before losing their 3rd wicket in this innings. This is only the 3rd instance when Australia scoring 250 and more runs for the first three wickets in a Test innings in Asia since 2003. They scored 275 in the last year’s Colombo Test against Sri Lanka and 284 runs against India at Delhi in 2008.
