It was quite a run for the Bangladesh cricket team in the year 2017. Their entire journey was filled with plenty of twists and turns, but the fighting spirit and that never-ending potential of all the boys has been the backbone of this team.

They would now be looking forward towards the maintaining a higher intensity and a different mindset when stepping into the field in 2018. The new calendar year comes with extreme demands and some tough tests which the Bangladesh team will have to fight out.

In 2017, they started off with a commendable performance in the Test match against New Zealand, but couldn’t end up things on a winning note. Then they reached the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England for the first time, only to get knocked out in a one-sided match against the dominant Indian team. Bangladesh had their biggest moment of the year after defeating Australia at home in the first Test match, after which the visitors equalized things up.

Intriguing challenges lined up

The year 2018 has some intriguing challenges lined up for the team, starting with the tri-series at home against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe scheduled in January. After this, Bangladesh will lock horns with the Lankans again in 2 Tests and 2 T20Is, where the hosts would also be looking to maintain the momentum gained in the series against the same opposition in 2017.

Then they are expected to visit Lankan island to participate in the tri-nation T20I series which would also involve India. The limited-overs series marks the 67th Independence Day of Sri Lanka, which is the reason that the hosts invited both Bangladesh and India to celebrate the historic occasion.

After the tri-series in Lanka, Bangladesh team will take the flight to the Caribbean for an overseas tour. Then they will be returning to the sub-continent for the Asia Cup in September, but the exact venue is still not decided. Next, the Tigers will be taking on the Aussie on their own turf, which is expected to be an intense battle. In November 2018, they would be once again facing the Windies, but this time on its own home soil to end things up for the year.

Bangladesh’s fixture in 2018:
