Run-out in the middle is pretty common. Over the years, there have been a plethora of mix-ups in the middle even at the greatest of occasions. Allan Donald’s run-out in the semi-final of the 1999 World Cup, MS Dhoni’s dismissal in the 2019 World Cup semis and Martin Guptill’s wicket in the Super Over of the Final in the same tournament are some run-outs at the big stage.

At times, the batters fall short by an inch, and there are times when the batters aren’t even in the frame while the leather makes connection with the stumps. There have also been instances when both batters end up running at the same end. It happens due to a lack of communication. At times, the decibel levels at the venues also make it difficult for the batters to communicate.

Comical run-out in village cricket

In that scenario, one has to shout at the top of the voice in order for the other to get the message. But at times, the batters in the middle have absolutely no clue whatsoever about the proceedings. In a brain explosion of both of them, one has to get out, barring some comedy of errors from the fielding team. Lately, another of such hilarious incident took place during village cricket.

In a video doing the rounds on social media, a batsman can be seen getting out after getting innumerable chances of making his ground. The bowler dished out a short ball and the striker tried to pull it away, but couldn’t get bat to ball. The keeper dived full-length on to his right and fumbled. In the meantime, the striker and the non-striker were utterly confused in the middle.

The duo stayed perplexed about whether to complete the run or not. On a number of times, both batters ran at both ends. In the end, the striker put his hands up, denying the run. The non-striker almost completed the run and then he tried to return. However, by then it was all too late as a fielder came and dislodged the bails. The umpire had no hesitation to raise his fingers.
