The former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir opened up on Virat Kohli’s cricketing career for yet another time. On quite a lot of occasions in the past, Gambhir has opined on his Delhi-teammate’s pros and cons. In several instances, the 37-year-old has been critical of Kohli, however, there have also been times when the former cricketer has been seen praising the Indian captain’s brand of cricket.

The Southpaw did the latter on Sunday and hailed Virat Kohli because of his unique style of captaincy. Kohli, whose team has recently registered its 11th consecutive home series win by defeating South Africa, has received a large amount of appreciation from all over the world. Gauti too applauded Virat Kohli’s men and said that his tendency of being fearless has helped the Indian team a lot.

India has started winning overseas because of Virat, says Gautam Gambhir

Kohli has been shouldering the mantle of the Indian side in red-ball cricket since 2014. Ever since he took up the captaincy role, the 30-year-old has successfully led India in almost every series and has faced a series-defeat only twice. Not only at home but the Indian skipper has a good overseas record as well.

As a result, Gautam Gambhir showered heaps of praises on the ace batsman and explained the factor which sets him apart from all his other predecessors. The Delhi Cricketer explained that Kohli’s habit of not being afraid of defeats is what makes him better than the former Indian captains like MS Dhoni & Sourav Ganguly.

“If you are scared of losing, you will never win and probably that’s the biggest plus he has, he isn’t scared of losing. We talk about Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni, but what Virat has created, India has started winning overseas as well,” said Gambhir in the post-match show.

Going further, he also opened up about his colleague’s success abroad. He said that Virat’s policy of backing fast bowlers and investing in young talents has been the mantra of success of the Indian team.

“He’s taken that risk, which a lot of other captains have not been able to take. The others always wanted an extra batter so that they don’t lose the Test match. Whereas, Virat is the only captain who has gone abroad and played with five bowlers, with Hardik Pandya being an all-rounder,” the former Indian cricketer concluded after India defeated the South African team by an innings and 137 runs in Pune.
