Indian Premier League (IPL) has been the source of revolution in Indian cricket ever since its inception in 2008. The league gives the young talent in the country an opportunity to share center stage with the best in the world. A step that was undertaken to promote T-20 cricket has given us many stars to represent their case for the national selection. Mandeep Singh who made it to the fore in 2010 with Kolkata Knight Riders was no different.

The explosive right-handed batsman came into reckoning with his home-based franchise in 2012 as he amassed 432 runs to be one of the most successful players in Punjab. Now after returning from injury, Mandeep looks ahead for a successful stint at RCB to make a stronger case for his national comeback and is ready for every possible challenge.

Preparations are in full swing

With less than four days to go for the inaugural match of the eleventh edition, the teams are up and running with their pre-tournament preparations. Throwing some light on the same, Mandeep looked confident before the long season ahead as he mentioned about the few practice games that the team has managed to sneak out.

“Preparation is important and it has been good. We had one week camp, we had some good training sessions and few good practice matches. And now the whole team is practicing together over here in this camp,” he told Firstpost.

The middle-order batsman is eager to perform under the leadership of Virat Kohli as the team is pumped up to turn down the mistakes from the previous season and is looking forward for a successful IPL this time around. In his views, the team boasts of some mighty batting prowess which also seems to be their major strength going into the tournament.

“Our biggest strength is obviously batting. With the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the team, it looks quite solid. This year, we also have good spin attack with Washington Sundar coming in along with Yuzvendra Chahal. Both have done well for the Indian team as well, which is a world-class bowling attack at the moment, ” he added

Ready for every possible challenge

The 26-year old is up for every challenge as he aims a national comeback. “I am ready to bay at any number. Wherever the team wants me to play, I will bat. I am happy to play at any number,” he added. It will make or break season for the Punjab born cricketer given the amount of batting talent in considerations for the slot in the national team. The youngster would hope to learn from his previous mistakes as he reckons to make the season count to make inroads in a career that has already witnessed much decline in the initial stages.
