The Melbourne Renegades started the BBL 2018-19 with back to back wins by virtue of the performances by their all-rounders and now have a chance to climb on to the top of the table. They will face the Sydney Sixers who have lost their previous two matches. The Sixers’ top-order has failed in all the three matches they played so far. This has put a lot of pressure on their not so experienced middle-order that has been making the runs for them.

The Sixers have brought back Lloyd Pope in place of Greg West for this match. There are quite a few changes to the Renegades’ squad. Jake Fraser-McGurk will take the place of Zak Evans who will travel to Sri Lanka with the Australian U19 side. Mackenzie Harvey and Beau Webster have also been added to the squad after nursing injuries. Will Sutherland, who played as a specialist batsman in the previous matches, is also on Australian U19 duties. Joe Mennie and Kelvin Smith have been left out of the Renegades side.

Match Details:

The 12th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) will be played between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.

The match starts at 7:00 PM local time (8:00 AM GMT) (1:30 PM IST).

The game will be live on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD in India. Live streaming is available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Dockland’s drop-in pitch has usually been on the slower side in the BBL. The chasing sides enjoy a good amount of success as the teams batting first here collapse trying to go for big scores. On Saturday, Sixers and Renegades will be playing on a pitch used for the WBBL game. As a result, the game to be played second could be played on an even slower surface.

Power Picks:

The Sixers’ bowling attack comprises of Sean Abbott, Tom Curran, Ben Dwarshuis, and the left-arm spinner Steve O’Keefe. All the four bowlers have the ability to ruin the batsmen’s momentum on an abrasive surface like at the Docklands. These four performances could well decide the fate of the Sixers.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

The Renegades’ all-rounder Dan Christian and Mohammad Nabi have been contributing to the team’s cause in all departments which make them ideal pick as the captain. For vice-captain role, Steve O’Keefe and Sean Abbott can be handy on a slow track.

Best Playing XI:

Josh Philippe, Dan Hughes, Jordan Silk, Sam Harper, Mohammad Nabi, Steve O’Keefe, Dan Christian, Kane Richardson, Sean Abbott, Tom Curran, Cameron Boyce.

Risky Playing XI:

Josh Philippe, Jack Edwards (C), Jordan Silk, Cameron White, Sam Harper, Mohammad Nabi, Beau Webster (VC), Dan Christian, Ben Dwarshuis, Tom Curran, Cameron Boyce.

Expert Advice:

Joe Denly and Moises Henriques have been in terrible form in this tournament. Picking them will be a gamble as both of them could come strong in this crucial game or else will continue their bad patch.
