After winning the first two matches, the Renegades struggled for consistency. Their batting came to the party in the previous two matches and took them over the line. They will face Brisbane Heat in the reverse fixture on Sunday. The Renegades got the better of Heat on Thursday by 8 wickets while chasing 145.

Under Chris Lynn’s captaincy, Heat started the 2018/19 season with hat-trick losses but bounced back with back to back wins. They went down against Renegades where Ben Cutting suffered a blow on his face and it resulted in a cut which required five stitches. The all-rounder is fit to face the Renegades yet again in the away fixture. They signed Harry Gurney in place of Usman Khan who will be joining Pakistan’s ODI squad. Kane Richardson will also miss this fixture due to hamstring soreness.

Match Details:

The 29th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2018-19 will be played between Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat at the Geelong Cricket Ground in Geelong.

The match starts at 6:35 PM local time (7:35 AM GMT) (1:05 PM IST).

The game will be live on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD in India. Live streaming is available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Geelong Cricket Ground track is usually slow in nature. However, the weird boundary dimensions at this ground help the batsmen kill the pressure. The Adelaide Strikers scored 158/6 in the other game played this season here and defeated the hosts by 32 runs where even the part-time spinners bowled well.

Squads:

Melbourne Renegades:

Tom Cooper (C), Cameron Boyce, Dan Christian, Marcus Harris, Sam Harper, Mackenzie Harvey, Jon Holland, Harry Gurney, Joe Mennie, Mohammad Nabi, Beau Webster, Jack Wildermuth, Cameron White.

Brisbane Heat:

Chris Lynn (C), Max Bryant, Ben Cutting, Brendan Doggett, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Lalor, Brendon McCullum, James Peirson, Jack Prestwidge, Matt Renshaw, Alex Ross, Mitchell Swepson, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Injury and Availability Updates after the announcement of the squads:

(Will be added when there is an update)

Power Picks:

Young Sam Harper has been the Renegades’ best batsman this season. The keeper-batsman has five scores of 25 and more in the seven matches and scored an unbeaten 56 in the last game. Harper also has four dismissals to his name this season.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Chris Lynn scored two fifties in his previous four matches. He will be crucial for Brisbane Heat once again. He has to be the first preferred multiplier from this game. Brendon McCullum and Max Bryant can be picked as vice-captain. The likes of Christian and Nabi are also the players you should keep an eye on.

Playing XI #1 for Head to Head/Small Leagues:

Keeper – Sam Harper

Batters – Chris Lynn (C), Marcus Harris, Tom Cooper, Brendon McCullum (VC), Max Bryant

All-Rounders – Daniel Christian, Ben Cutting

Expert Advice:

Only three all-rounders can be picked if Lynn, Harris, Cooper, McCullum, Bryant and another Renegades batter are considered in the batsmen category. Nabi has been non-performing recently but the Afghan all-rounder his ability to produce an impactful performance  can’t be ruled out.

Probable Winners:

Brisbane Heat are expected to get back to winning ways if the Renegades don’t continue their improved batting show.
