The Sydney Sixers will kick-start their new campaign at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday where they face the Perth Scorchers. The three-time BBL champions had a forgettable first-round game where they were bowled out for just 103. However, their pace-attack tried its best to keep the Melbourne Renegades in check and reduced them to 17/4 by the 4th over.

However, the target was too less for the Scorchers to defend and the Renegades got to the target with four wickets and 29 balls to spare. The Sydney Sixers have young names on their side while the Scorchers are lite on the batting front. The lack of batting depth was the reason for the debacle in the last match combined by a poor effort from their experienced batsmen. They will be missing their skipper Mitchell Marsh who is set to join the Test squad.

Match Details:

The 4th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) will be played between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

The match starts at 3:30 PM local time (4:30 AM GMT) (10:00 AM IST).

The game will be live on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD. Streaming available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Sixers and Scorchers will be playing on a pitch used for the WBBL game between Sixers and Heat. In the earlier doubleheaders, the pitches have played better under the lights but the game at the SCG will be played in the evening. The Australia-India T20I last month was played on the surface that had a bit of turn for the spinners.

Squads:

Sydney Sixers:

Moises Henriques (C), Sean Abbott, Justin Avendano, Tom Curran, Joe Denly, Ben Dwarshuis, Jack Edwards, Dan Fallins, Dan Hughes, Steve O’Keefe, Josh Philippe, Lloyd Pope, Jordan Silk.

Perth Scorchers:

Ashton Turner (C), Will Bosisto, Ashton Agar, Jason Behrendroff, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Josh Inglis, Michael Klinger, Usman Qadir, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Sam Whiteman, David Willey.

Probable XI:

Sydney Sixers:

Moises Henriques (C), Dan Hughes, Josh Philippe, Joe Denly, Jordan Silk, Jack Edwards, Sean Abbott, Tom Curran, Ben Dwarshuis, Steve O’Keefe, Dan Fallins/Lloyd Pope.

Perth Scorchers:

Ashton Turner (C), Will Bosisto, Michael Klinger, Sam Whiteman, Hilton Cartwright, Ashton Agar, Jason Behrendroff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jhye Richardson/Usman Qadir, Andrew Tye, David Willey.

Power Picks:

The Scorchers could have applied some more pressure on Renegades in the previous game had they gone with an all-pace attack where Jhye Richardson would’ve played ahead of Usman Qadir. The leg-spinner ended up conceding quite a few runs and released the pressure off of the chasing team. However, the Sydney pitch could tempt the Scorchers to continue with Qadir.

Best Playing XI:

Sam Whiteman, Michael Klinger, Ashton Turner, Moises Henriques, Josh Philippe, Joe Denly, David Willey, Andrew Tye, Ben Dwarshuis, Jason Behrendroff, Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Joe Denly has had rich success with both bat and ball in the T20 Blast this year. He is expected to open with both bat and ball for the Sixers. David Willey will be batting in the top three to improve the depth in batting for the Scorchers. The duo from England will be perfect for the multiplier roles. The Perth Scorchers’ pacers Tye, Behrendroff and Coulter-Nile can be options for vice-captain.

Expert Advice:

Jason Behrendroff’s opening spell in the last game and Dwarshuis’ exploits last season make them a must in the XI. Only two among Andrew Tye, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Sean Abbott can be picked in the final XI. Coulter-Nile’s batting form and Tye’s success in T20s put them ahead of Abbott.

Probable Winners:

Perth Scorchers are expected to register their first win of the tournament if their bowling attack performs at capacity.
