Sydney Sixers will face Brisbane Heat twice in two days with the first encounter being hosted by the Sydney Cricket Ground. Sixers are currently pushed to second in the points table following Sydney Thunder’s win over Hobart Hurricanes on Friday. The Sixers have a perfect chance to move back to the top of the table. The defending champions began the season with a defeat but are cruising through with four consecutive wins.

The form of their skipper Ellyse Perry has been the biggest boost for the Sixers. They could face a tough fight from Brisbane Heat who are coming with wins in their last two matches. In the previous game against Melbourne Stars, the Brisbane team chased down a target of 133 in only 10.5 overs without losing a wicket. Grace Harris struck the fastest century in the WBBL history taking only 42 deliveries to power her team to a big win.

Match Details:

The 24th match of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) will be played between Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

The match starts at 11:10 PM local time (12:10 AM GMT) (5:40 AM IST).

The game will be live on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD. Streaming available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Sydney Cricket Ground will host a doubleheader on Saturday as the game between Sixers and Heat will be followed by the BBL game between Sixers and Scorchers. The first game is expected to have better conditions as the pitch in Sydney produces a bit of turn as the innings progresses. The recent T20I between Australia and India was played on a slow surface with the chasing team sweating it out.

Squads:

Sydney Sixers:

Ellyse Perry (C), Erin Burns, Stella Campbell, Lauren Cheatle, Ashleigh Gardner, Alyssa Healy, Marizanne Kapp, Carly Leeson, Sara McGlashan, Hayley Silver-Holmes, Lauren Smith, Dane Van Niekerk, Tahlia Wilson.

Brisbane Heat:

Kirby Short (C), Jemma Barsby, Haidee Birkett, Grace Harris, Laura Harris, Sammy-Jo Johnson, Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Charli Knott, Suné Luus, Beth Mooney, Georgie Prestwidge, Laura Wolvaardt.

Probable XI:

Sydney Sixers:

Ellyse Perry (C), Erin Burns, Lauren Cheatle, Ashleigh Gardner, Alyssa Healy, Marizanne Kapp, Sara McGlashan, Hayley Silver-Holmes, Lauren Smith, Dane Van Niekerk, Tahlia Wilson.

Brisbane Heat:

Kirby Short (C), Jemma Barsby, Haidee Birkett, Grace Harris, Laura Harris, Sammy-Jo Johnson, Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Suné Luus, Beth Mooney, Laura Wolvaardt.

Power Picks:

In four of the five matches in this season, Sammy Jo-Johnson has either picked up two wickets or scored 30+. She returned with at least a wicket in all five games. Her team-mate Jess Jonnasen is also on the same lines as she picked up 8 wickets in five matches and two 25+ scores in three innings in the tournament so far.

Best Playing XI:

Alyssa Healy, Kirby Short, Erin Burns, Suné Luus, Sara McGlashan, Ellyse Perry, Sammy Jo-Johnson, Grace Harris, Jemma Barsby, Lauren Cheatle, Marizanne Kapp.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Ellyse Perry is an obvious choice for a multiplier in the current circumstances. Alyssa Healy hasn’t been as consistent as she was during the World T20 but that doesn’t keep her away from scoring a big one. One of the remaining all-rounders can also be considered for multiplier roles.

Expert Advice:

The all-rounders’ category is filled up with six potential picks in form of Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, Dane Van Niekerk, Sammy Jo-Johnson, Grace Harris and Jess Jonassen. However, only three of these can be picked in the XI and they should be the ones consistent throughout. Ashleigh Gardner and Grace Harris have been more of one-knock wonders.

However, the points Harris produced in the last three matches are: 83, 22.5 and 40. The likes of Jo-Johnson and Jess Jonnasen have been amongst points in all the five matches they played. Perry had almost 50 points in four of the five matches thus far while Van Niekerk accumulated 10+ points in all five matches including three games with 20+.

Probable Winners:

Sydney Sixers will be looking to register their 5th successive win and move to the top of the table.
