Carrara Oval returned to hosting cricket from this season. The one-off T20I which this venue hosted last month between Australia and South Africa turned out to be a 10-over affair. The shortened game did show the slowish nature of the drop-in pitch used at the venue.

Ben McDermott and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are alternatives as captain and vice-captain.
