You may term the 54th match of BBL 2018-19 as a dead rubber. But there is a lot of pride at stake for the Adelaide Strikers and the Perth Scorchers. Instead of the regular white ball, a special Kookaburra ball will be used for this game. This ball will have Arrernte word for Kookaburra – Thipe Artherrentye-Akngerre – and colour printing of Cricket Australia’s Indigenous cricket emblem.

Moreover, Ben Laughlin is all set to become the first player to play 50 BBL games for the Strikers. The last time these two sides met on Boxing Day, the Scorchers proved to be too good for the Strikers. The ‘men in blue’ were bowled out for only 88 runs leading to a major embarrassment. The Strikers will surely be keen on taking their revenge in the upcoming encounter.

Pitch and Conditions

The track at the Adelaide Oval assists the batsmen a great deal. Scores in excess of 150 were scored in all the six games that were played here. Even though rain is predicted in the early parts of the day, it might not cause any interruption to the match.

Both Travis Head and Billy Stanlake have returned back into the Adelaide Strikers squad. However, Colin Ingram misses out in the match. The in-form Alex Carey will open the innings along with Jake Weatherald. Rashid Khan is expected to play a big role in this encounter. Ben Laughlin will hope to bring out a special performance in the milestone game.
