The Showground Stadium in Sydney will host the BBL Sydney Derby on Monday after the WBBL game between the Sydney Thunder and the Hobart Hurricanes. Both Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder won their respective first match of the season. Interestingly, it was the middle-order partnerships of both the sides made the difference despite being lighter with the batting. Both the teams have enough depth and variety in the bowling to restrict the oppositions.

Sixers recovered from 30/3 thanks to a 124-run 4th wicket stand between Daniel Hughes and Jordan Silk against Perth Scorchers. For Thunder, Jason Sangha starred with an unbeaten 63 to become the youngest player to score a fifty in the Big Bash League history. He put on 77 runs with Daniel Sams in only 6.5 overs to take team’s total past 180 against the Melbourne Stars. The Sixers face scare of missing Moises Henriques suffered a calf pain in the previous match.

Power Picks:

Sixers have promoted young Jack Edwards to open the innings. The all-rounder has attacking instincts which he exhibited during the JLT One-Day Cup and even became the youngest centurion in the history of the tournament. Edwards started positively in the previous game before his innings was cut short.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Daniel Sams is someone who could contribute with both bat and ball. He had seen success in both the departments during JLT One-Day Cup which makes his ideal choice for a multiplier role. The likes of Jos Buttler, Shane Watson and Joe Denly are the other options for the multipliers.

Best Playing XI:

Jos Buttler, Shane Watson, Jordan Silk, Jack Edwards, Jason Sangha, Joe Denly, Daniel Sams, Steve O’Keefe, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Chris Green.

Risky Playing XI:

Expert Advice:

There are high chances that Sixers captain Moises Henriques could miss the Sydney Derby. He suffered calf pain in the game against Scorchers which did not let him take the field. He will undergo a late fitness test and Justin Avendano is his possible replacement.

Probable Winners:

Sydney Thunder is expected to clinch this Sydney Derby due to better depth in their line-up compared to the Sixers.
