Melbourne Stars registered their 6th consecutive win as they defeated the Sydney Sixers by 44 runs in a high-scoring match at the MCG. Marcus Stoinis batted out full 20 overs scoring a record 147 from only 79 balls with 13 fours and 8 sixes. He shared a 207-run opening partnership with Hilton Cartwright (59 off 40) as the Stars finished with 219/1 in their 20 overs. Sydney Sixers fell apart in the chase losing a flurry of wickets in the middle overs. Ben Dwarshuis scored an unbeaten 17-ball 42 at the end to push the Sixers to 175/7.

100 – Marcus Stoinis scored 100 of his 147 runs through boundaries; the first player to aggregate 100 boundary runs in a BBL inning. The previous most runs in a BBL inning through boundaries was 86 runs each by Luke Wright during his 117-run knock in 2011-12 and Ben McDermott in 2016-17 when he scored 114 against Renegades.

8 – The 8 sixes hit by Stoinis are the 2nd most in a BBL inning for the Melbourne Stars. Luke Wright hit as many as 9 sixes during his 117-run inning against the Hobart Hurricanes in 2011-12.

The first-ever 200-run stand:

61 – Ben Dwarshuis conceded 61 runs in this match; the most runs conceded by any player in a Big Bash League match. Daniel Worrall in the 2014-15 season against Hobart Hurricanes for the Melbourne Stars and Brisbane’s Ben Laughlin on Saturday against Perth Scorchers conceded 60 runs apiece in a BBL match.

3 – This was the 3rd time that Tom Curran conceded 50+ runs in a Big Bash League match; the most by any bowler in the BBL history. Curran conceded 52 runs against Brisbane Heat and 58 runs against Melbourne Renegades this season.

3 – Dwarshuis and Curran became only the 3rd pair to concede 50+ runs in a Big Bash League inning. Luke Feldman and Mark Steketee conceded 53 and 50 runs respectively while playing for the Brisbane Heat during the 2015-16 season game against Hobart Hurricanes. On Saturday, Ben Laughlin (60) and James Pattinson (52) became the 2nd such pair when they faced Perth Scorchers.
