Sydney Sixers finished the league phase with a comfortable 7-wicket win against the Melbourne Renegades which is their 9th win of the season. Aaron Finch smashed a hundred in his first innings after the India tour. He scored 109 off 68 balls with 13 boundaries while the remaining batters scored only six boundaries. Chasing a target of 176, Josh Philippe gave a good start to the Sixers with a 42-ball 61 while Steve Smith finished off the chase with an unbeaten 66 from 40 balls as the Sixers completed the target with 8 balls to spare.

A big chase at home for Sixers:

176 – The 176-run chase by Sydney Sixers in this game is their 2nd highest successful chase in a BBL match at the SCG. Their highest is 190 against the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2017-18 season.


Finch’s record century:

8 – Number of centuries for Aaron Finch in Twenty20 cricket; the joint 2nd most by any player in this format. Chris Gayle leads the list with 22 centuries while Michael Klinger and David Warner also have eight tons apiece in the T20s.


5 – Aaron Finch became only the 5th player score multiple hundreds in the Big Bash League. Craig Simmons, Luke Wright, Usman Khawaja and D’Arcy Short are the other four players with two BBL tons.


109 – Finch’s 109-run knock in this match is the 2nd highest BBL score for the Melbourne Renegades. The highest is also recorded by Finch with his unbeaten 111 against Melbourne Stars in the 2012-13 season.


Smith’s best in BBL:

66* – Steve Smith’s unbeaten 66 in this game is his highest score in the Big Bash League surpassing in the 65-run knock against the Perth Scorchers in the 2013-14 season also at the SCG. That game ended in a tie as both teams finished on 153 but the Scorchers won in the Super over.


2 – Only the 2nd time in his BBL career that Steve Smith has won the player of the match award. The other such instance was against Hobart Hurricanes in the 2013-14 season where he scored a 32-ball 52 in his team’s 7-run win.

401 – Runs aggregated by Josh Philippe in this BBL season; the most runs by a player in a BBL season for the Sydney Sixers. He went past Daniel Hughes’ 399 runs scored during the 2018-19 season across 15 innings.


Curran equals Sixers’ record:

22 – Number of wickets for Tom Curran across the 14 matches in this Big Bash League; the joint-most number of wickets for any bowler in a BBL edition for the Sydney Sixers. Sean Abbott also claimed 22 wickets for the Sixers during the 2018-19 season.
