Adelaide Strikers began their home-leg matches with a big 71-run victory against the Perth Scorchers on Monday. After losing the toss, the Strikers got off to a flyer thanks to a 31-ball 51 by Phil Salt with 8 boundaries. But the slowing down in the middle order brought the Scorchers back in the game but a quick 13-ball 29 by Rashid Khan lifted Strikers to 165/8. Scorchers blasted 35 runs in the first three overs of the chase but collapsed from there on scoring only 59 further runs.

Milestone win for the Strikers:

50 – The 71-run win on Monday was the 50th victory in the BBL for the Adelaide Strikers making them the 3rd team to win as many matches in the league history.

Nine of Strikers’ 50 wins came against Scorchers; the joint-most number of wins for them against any team. In fact, no team has defeated Scorchers as many times as the Strikers (9) till date in the BBL.


Winning streak of the Strikers against the Scorchers:

4 – Adelaide Strikers have won each of their last four matches in the BBL against Perth Scorchers. The winning streak of the Strikers over the Scorchers began since the start of 2019 with three of them coming while defending a total. The Strikers also won each of their last four BBL games against the Scorchers they played at the Adelaide Oval.

71 – The 71-run win for the Strikers on Monday is now their 2nd biggest win in terms of runs in the Big Bash League. Their biggest BBL win came against the Sydney Thunder by 77 runs during the 2016-17 season while defending a target of 179.


Yet another low total for Scorchers:

5 – Perth Scorchers now have been bowled out below 100 on five occasions in the Big Bash League; the 2nd most such totals for any team in the BBL. Adelaide Strikers tops the list with as many as six all-out totals under 100 in the league history.

94 – The total of 94 by Perth Scorchers is now just the 2nd total below 100 in the BBL coming against the Adelaide Strikers. The Brisbane Heat collapsed to 91/10 on New Year’s eve during the 2017-18 season also at the Adelaide Oval.


Rashid’s record treble:

1 – Rashid Khan achieved the treble of scoring 25+ runs, picking 2+ wickets, and taking 1+ catches in a BBL match. Rashid is the first such player with this treble in the BBL for Adelaide Strikers and also the first to do so against Perth Scorchers. As many as 11 players achieved this treble in a BBL game before Rashid.

1023 – Rashid Khan completed 1000 runs in the Twenty20 format when he went past his individual score of six during SCO vs STR game. Rashid got there in 242 matches alongside picking 334 wickets and 74 catches.

  


A collective bowling effort from the Strikers:

2 Adelaide Strikers became only the 2nd team in the Big Bash history to have as many as five bowlers picking up two wickets in a match. Sydney Thunder recorded the first such instance when they faced Hobart Hurricanes in the 2017-18 season of the league.


Carey moves on to the top:

43 – Alex Carey, with the two catches during SCO vs STR, became the wicketkeeper with most dismissals in the BBL. He went past Jimmy Pierson and Peter Handscomb who have 41 dismissals apiece as a keeper.
