Sydney Sixers cruised to their 4th consecutive win of the BBL 2020-21 as they got away with a 2-wicket win against the Melbourne Renegades. Shaun Marsh’s 48-ball 67 at the top gave a grand opening for the Renegades who failed to capitalize and finished with 168/6. Josh Philippe gave a perfect opening for the Sixers with a 30-ball 48 but kept losing wickets after his dismissal. Jason Holder ensured he stood till the end scoring an unbeaten 33 off 18 balls and chased down 16 runs in the final over.

Here are all the statistical highlights from Sydney Sixers’ close win during the REN vs SIX match:

Sixers’ streak over Renegades:

4 – Sydney Sixers have won each of their last four matches in the BBL against Melbourne Renegades. The streak of Sixers began in the previous edition and it includes a record 145-run win as well. Sixers have won all the six BBL games while chasing against Renegades since losing to them way back during the 2012-13 season.

3/3 – Sixers now have won all the three matches they played in the BBL at the Carrara Oval in Queensland. Prior to the REN vs SIX game, the Sixers beat Brisbane Heat by 5 wickets in the 2018-19 season and Melbourne Stars by a 1-wicket margin on Saturday at this venue.


Milestone game for the Sixers:

100 – The REN vs SIX game was the 100th match for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League making them the 3rd team to feature in 100 BBL games after Melbourne Stars (102) and Perth Scorchers (101).

Sixers now have won 55 matches in the league history which are joint-most alongside the Scorchers (55). They have won as many as nine matches thus far against the Renegades alone.


Yet another narrow win for the Sixers:

2 – Only the 2nd time that the Melbourne Renegades have lost a BBL match by a margin of two or fewer wickets. They lost to Hobart Hurricanes in the 2016-17 season when they chased down the target of 223 on the last ball of the match.

3 – Sixers now have won as many as three BBL matches with a margin of two or fewer wickets. The previous game against Melbourne Stars was the first time they won by a 1-wicket margin. Overall, there have been only six BBL matches ending with a winning margin of 2 or fewer wickets (Strikers, Stars and Hurricanes have one such win each).


Marsh @ 2000 runs:

2030Shaun Marsh completed 2000 runs in the Big Bash League when he went past his individual score of 37 during the REN vs SIX game. He was the 3rd player to reach the milestone while Glenn Maxwell became the 4th during the THU vs STA game. Marsh got to the milestone in 54 innings which makes him the fastest player to get there.

  

19 – Shaun Marsh now has 19 fifties in the BBL which are now the 3rd most fifty-plus scores in the league history. Aaron Finch (2 centuries, 18 fifties) and Chris Lynn (1 century, 19 fifties) on the top with 20 fifty-plus scores apiece.


Expensive game with the ball for Sutherland:

57 – Will Sutherland conceded 57 runs in the 3.5 overs he bowled during the REN vs SIX game are the 2nd most runs conceded by any player in a BBL match while representing Melbourne Renegades. Thisara Perera ended up giving away 59 runs in the 2016-17 season game against Hobart Hurricanes.
