Brisbane Heat was successful in putting an end to a 4-match winning streak of the Sydney Sixers as they clinched a 4-wicket victory at the Gabba on Saturday. Joshua Philippe (48 off 36) and Jordan Silk (43 off 27) made the major contributions for getting Sixers to finish with 165/8. Max Bryant gave a perfect start for the Heat in the chase with a 23-ball 40 but the home team kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The duo of Lewis Gregory (31* off 19) and Jack Wildermuth (22* off 10) seal the game with an unbeaten 50-run stand for the 7th wicket in just 3.3 overs.

Here are all the statistical highlights from Brisbane Heat’s 4-wicket win during the HEA vs SIX match:

Sixers’ maiden defeat at Gabba:

1 – Sydney Sixers have lost a match at the Brisbane’s Gabba ground for the first time in the Big Bash League. Sixers played six games at the Gabba before this defeat and won all those six including once through Super Over.

3 – Only the 3rd time that the Brisbane Heat has managed to defeat Sydney Sixers across 13 meetings in the BBL. The 4-wicket win on Saturday was the first win while chasing for Heat against Sixers.


Streaks of Sixers and Heat:

5 – The 6-wicket defeat against Brisbane brought an end to Sydney Sixers’ 5-match streak of winning while defending a total. The last instance of the Sixers losing while batting first in the BBL was against Sydney Thunder in 2019-20 season where they got bowled out for only 76 in a 16-over match.

6 – Brisbane Heat has won only six of their last 15 completed matches they played at the Brisbane’s Gabba ground. All those six wins of Brisbane came while chasing a target only. Brisbane Heat’s last win at home while batting first came at the start of 2018 when they won by 49 runs against Perth Scorchers.


Steketee @ 50 wickets:

52 – Mark Steketee completed 50 wickets in the Big Bas League when he dismissed Carlos Brathwaite, his 2nd of the four wickets during the HEA vs SIX game.

Steketee also completed 50 T20 wickets with the wicket of Brathwaite as all the 42 matches he played in his T20 career came for the Brisbane Heat in BBL. Steketee, in this process, became the 2nd player to bag 50+ wickets in the BBL for Brisbane Heat after Ben Cutting (63).

  

34 – Steketee has claimed 34 wickets in the BBL at the Gabba in Brisbane; the 2nd most number of wickets for any player at a venue in the league. Sean Abbott tops the list as he accounted for 45 wickets across 30 BBL matches at the Sydney cricket ground.


Philippe @ 1000 runs:

1011 – Joshua Philippe completed 1000 runs in the Big Bash League when he went past his individual score of 30 runs during the HEA vs SIX game. Out of the 1018 runs Philippe has scored in the BBL thus far, as many as 1011 runs came for the Sixers and 7 runs for the Scorchers. Philippe is now the 5th player to amass 1000+ BBL runs for the Sixers and the 38th player overall to reach the milestone.
