We got a clash between two outfits struggling to gather any momentum in the 7th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) as the Hobart Hurricanes battle it out against the Sydney Thunder at home. The Hurricanes suffered a loss by 7 wickets against the Melbourne Renegades in their opening clash after an exciting knock by Cameron White.

The Thunder, on the other hand, have recorded two losses on the trot after racking a last-ball win in the opening encounter against the Sydney Sixers. This has largely been because of the failure of reliable batsmen like Jos Butler, Ben Rohrer who have failed to support their captain Shane Watson forcing him to play a lone hand in the campaign so far.

A win on the day can mark the beginning of a glorious campaign for any of these outfits.

Hobart Hurricanes

The Hurricanes threatened to take the game away from the Renegades largely because of an exciting spell by English fast bowler Jofra Archer who has enjoyed praise from none other than legendary South African bowler Dale Steyn. On the other hand, batsmen like Alex Doolan, D’Archy Short, Ben McDermott failed to convert their starts into match-winning knocks in spite kicking off on a bright note.

Captain Bailey will be expecting more from his boys and will be all geared up to register an impressive score himself having meekly surrendered to the guile of Mohammad Nabi in the first clash.

Predicted XI: Alex Doolan, D’Arcy Short, Ben McDermott, George Bailey, Dan Christian, Matthew Wade, Jofra Archer, Cameron Boyce, Clive Rose, Tymal Mills, Aaron Summers.

Sydney Thunder

The failure of leading run-scorer Shane Watson in the previous 2 clashes has completely exposed the Thunder batting line-up to scrutiny having failed to get the job done without his explosive performances. Jos Butler has been in poor form this BBL which does not augur well ahead of next month’s IPL auction. Fellow opener Kurtis Patterson has also been in terrible form so far with Callum Ferguson’s knock of 37 runs in 26 deliveries leading the side on to a reasonable score in their last clash.

Mitchell McClenaghan was smashed to all parts of the ground in the last match which is something he will be surely eager to work on. Arjun Nair has been the standout bowler for the Thunder so far with his economical bowling performances and will be expected to get the job done against the Hurricanes.

Predicted XI: Jos Butler, Kurtis Patterson, Shane Watson, Callum Ferguson, Ben Rohrer, Arjun Nair, Aiden Blizzard, Clive Green, Mitchell McClenaghan, Fawad Ahmed, Andrew Fekete.

We believe that the Hobart Hurricanes will emerge victorious against the Sydney Thunder.
