BBL: Cameron Boyce signs a two-year deal with the Renegades

The Melbourne Renegades had a stop-start season in the 2017-18 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). They won six out of their ten matches and finished third on the points table. The franchise faced the Adelaide Strikers in the second semi-final of the tournament. However, the team couldn’t evade defeat and slumped by one run despite some resolute shows by the middle-order.

They will definitely want to go one step ahead and win the championship. The Renegades have recently signed the leg-break bowler Cameron Boyce for a couple of seasons as per reports in Cricbuzz. The franchise now has two slots to fill in order to complete their 18-man squad along with two overseas signings. The Australian cricketer is elated by the contract and sounded confident regarding their chances in the tournament.

“I’m really excited about joining the Renegades for the next two seasons. There is a lot of talent in the squad and on the back of the semi-final appearance last season, I’m really optimistic about our prospects over the coming years. On a personal level, it will be great to challenge myself in a new environment in Melbourne and I’m also looking forward to playing at Etihad Stadium where spin has been a really effective weapon,” he said.

Boyce played for the Hobart Hurricanes for the last five seasons and has 49 wickets in 46 matches thus far. In BBL’s previous edition, he didn’t have an auspicious outing. He could only manage 6 wickets from ten matches at an economy of 7.88. Boyce has also donned the national colours in 7 T20Is and has scalped 8 wickets at an average of 19 while conceding only 6.60 runs per over.
