MSK Prasad-led selection committee announced India A squad for the upcoming four-day match series against Australia A. The selectors picked Shreyas Iyer as captain and KS Bharat as wicket-keeper. Kuldeep Yadav, who was axed from the Indian Test squad has been picked in the ‘A’ squad to get the red-ball experience before Australia tour later this year.

The in-form pacer Mohammed Siraj also found his place in the 14-man squad. The speed-gun did exceedingly well against South Africa A. Another pacer option Rajneesh Gurbani, who did well in the first match of Duleep Trophy also got a chance. Both the pacers have a big series ahead and they are expected to do well with the ball.

Alongside Kuldeep Yadav, the spinner Krishnappa Gowtham came in the place of Yuzvendra Chahal. The leggie expressed his desire to prepare for the upcoming Asia Cup, which made selectors to exclude him from the squad. Shahbaz Nadeem is another spinner who retained his place in the ‘A’ squad. Jayant Yadav didn’t find a spot. Axar Patel wasn’t included as he’s busy with his county stint till mid-September.

Meanwhile, selectors picked Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari in the Indian Test squad for the last two games of the ongoing England tour. This move gave Shubman Gill a chance in the ‘A’ team. The 18-year-old youngster Gill has represented in just two first-class games thus far and he will eagerly wait to create the impact.
