BCCI calls off India’s scheduled tour to Zimbabwe citing players’ fatigue: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has called off India’s tour to Bangladesh that was scheduled to take place in July. The reason that the BCCI have cited is players’ fatigue.

There were reports on Sunday that the tour might be postponed to next year as a result of the BCCI not having resolved its issues with Ten Sports, which holds the broadcast rights for international cricket in Zimbabwe. It is learnt that it might also have contributed to the abandonment of the tour.

The series had earlier consisted of 3 ODIs and 2 T20’s. India’s recent humiliating defeat was a wake up call to the BCCI and they were not prepared to take risk as the players looked short on energy and exhausted after 2 months of rigorous IPL play. Earlier on Sunday, 19-year-old Mustafizur Rahman rattled the Indian batsmen and India succumbed to an unexpected series defeat at the hands of the 8th ranked ODI team.

The series loss probably might have signalled the BCCI that the overly demanding schedule was taking a toll on them physically as well as mentally and that is what has prompted the BCCI to call off the scheduled tour.
