In February this year, the Supreme Court of India appointed a Committee of Administrators (CoA) which took charge of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) administration. The appointed committee introduced a disclosure form for all the board employees so that BCCI‘s office is clean. MV Sridhar had also submitted his disclosure form but he failed to mention a pending case against him in which Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) is probing some financial irregularities in the construction of the Rajiv Gandhi stadium in 2014.

Notice for not mentioning details of the case

Rahul Johri, CEO of the BCCI has sent a notice to the board’s General Manager Sridhar for not submitting the full details of the graft case in his disclosure. The former Indian first-class cricketer has confirmed that he did receive an email from Johiri but said that it’s not a show cause notice.

“It is not a show cause notice because earlier a declaration was sought from all employees about their educational qualifications. The point of not disclosure is not correct. I have received a mail asking me to share the details regarding the old ACB case filed in 2011 in Hyderabad,” Sridhar told The Indian Express.

In 2014, ACB had sent a notice to former office bearers of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), including Sridhar seeking details on the construction of the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, and other matters. Delloite Audit report submitted to BCCI also raised this issue.

BCCI investigating Sridhar for conflict of interest

Sridhar also owns some clubs which are affiliated to the HCA, and this can lead to a conflict of interest trouble for him. This could lead to difficulty because Sridhar has served as secretary for HCA and has been on BCCI’s payroll from 2013.

“I have confirmed that I will share all details with regard to this case which does not indict me in person. I’m filing a discharge petition, a copy of which I will also enclose with my reply. As far as the club thing goes, I will seek clarity from my CEO. I respect the procedure being deployed and I will furnish all information as required by the management,” Sridhar added.
