While all the experts, fans, and critics are busy choosing between India and New Zealand, the BCCI have managed to create another record this time in social media department. BCCI have managed to cross 18 million Instagram followers on it’s official handle named ‘Indiancricketteam’ on Tuesday 15 June 2021. The feat accomplished is simply phenomenal and credit should be given to the Indian team, who have managed to put in good performances over a long period of time.

The inaugural edition of the much anticipated ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final is just three days away and India are gearing up to the challenge to face the Blackcaps who have just beaten England 1-0 in a two-match Test series. Recently, BCCI had posted videos of players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant while training and practicing which kept the fans hooked onto it.

Not only Instagram, the Indian cricket team, also has over 14.5 million followers on a Twitter account named BCCI. It’s not lagging behind on Facebook too as it has 28 million likes on the page. The Men in Blue reached England on June 03 and after finishing their mandatory quarantine, they got to play an intra-squad practice game ahead of the summit clash which begins on June 18.

Indian cricket team IG handle raising its game too

Apart from the usual training videos, the official handle recently shared some of the practice games videos too of players warming up for the finale. The most popular among the videos posted was undoubtedly skipper Virat Kohli’s post in which the batter is displaying his various shots with a steely and confident look in his eyes. It had also posted a caption, “Three sleeps away from the BIG GAME How excited are you? #WTC21 #TeamIndia,” the caption read.

Apart from posting videos of the Men’s team, the BCCI also keeps posting about the women’s team too, who are on an an-all-format tour to England. Recently, it posed a video of vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur speaking about the challenges of playing a Test after seven years. India women will play a one-off Test starting on June 16 and after that, they will play six white-ball matches.
