The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) General Manager Dr. M.V. Sridhar resigned from his post after several allegations of “conflict of interest” against him. The BCCI’s Committee of Administrators (CoA) accepted the resignation in its meeting in Mumbai. However, as per reports, it is believed Sridhar had already prepared his resignation last week and the CoA also agreed to relieve the former HCA secretary off his duties on September 30.

The whole matter came into existence when Sridhar failed to deliver the facts regarding his ownership details with six clubs in the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Cricket Association. However, the CoA stated that the facts disclosure is an aspect of implementing the “conflict of interest” related guidelines among the BCCI employees. It is also being speculated that things were not going well between Sridhar and the other BCCI officials.

Resignation has been accepted

The BCCI chief executive Rahul Johri in an email informed Sridhar sent the CoA his resignation. “Please note that Dr MV Sridhar has decided to move on and tendered his resignation,” Johri wrote in his mail to the office-bearers as quoted by the Hindu.

“His resignation has been accepted on Wednesday by the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). Dr Sridhar has agreed to stay on till 30 September, 2017 for smooth handover of work. We thank him for his services to BCCI,” he added.

There is no conflict of interest

Earlier, Sridhar was also involved in the matter regarding the appointment of a trainer Sohum Desai at the NCA in Bengaluru. Johri admitted that the appointment was based on a fake report and Desai has not appeared for the examination conducted as a basis for selection. However, Sridhar, on the other hand, negated Johri’s allegations and felt that there is no conflict. “The boy came second in the exam and that’s why he got the job. I don’t think there is any conflict of interest,” he said.
