After ending their T20 World Cup 2021 quite early, the Indian team is all set to step up for their next assignment in form of the New Zealand series from November 17. The tour will begin with three-match T20I series followed by two Tests, taking place in Kanpur and Mumbai. In the light of back-to-back matches lined up for the team, BCCI has decided to give the team a short break from the bio bubble.

It was already in talks for a long that bio-bubble fatigue is affecting players and their performances as they have been on the road for the last six months. When India lost its first two T20 WC fixtures, the reasons were attributed to bio-bubble fatigue even then. Hence, BCCI will be giving a two-day break to players before reassemble to quarantine for the New Zealand tour.

The players who were up for the T20 WC in UAE and those who will be coming from the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament have been granted permission to go and be with their families. The players have a break of two-three days in hand depending on when they exit their current bio-bubbles.

The move has also been given a thought on by the BCCI considering the next South Africa series where players will again be devoid of break. Recently ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah also opened up on the fatigue caused by prolonged stays in bio bubble, after they lost their second league game of T20 WC against New Zealand by eight wickets.

“Absolutely, sometimes you need a break. You miss your family. You’ve been on the road for six months.  Obviously staying in a bubble and staying away from your family for such a long period of time does play a role. The BCCI also tried their best to make us feel comfortable. It’s a difficult time. There’s a pandemic going on, so we try to adapt but sometimes bubble fatigue, mental fatigue also creeps in,” said Jasprit Bumrah earlier in a post-match press conference during T20 WC.
