November 22, 2019, will see the historic first-ever day-night Test match being played in India at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is leaving no stone unturned to make the Test between India and Bangladesh the most special one. With the first match taking place in Indore’s Holkar Stadium, the focus remains on Eden Gardens.

The Indian players have already started practicing with the pink balls provided by SG to get ready for the challenge of dealing with the movement under the lights. Rahane and Rohit emphasized that the biggest problem was that the ball moved prodigiously off the pitch and in the air. Another curiosity that has been eating up the experts and fans alike is what kind of pitch will be served up for the iconic match.

Sourav Ganguly promises a “good wicket” in the historic Kolkata pink-ball Test

Sourav Ganguly has assured on November 13 that his home ground of Eden Gardens will provide a sporting wicket for the historic day-night Test between India and Bangladesh coming November 22. Usually, the newly re-laid Eden turf has been pace bowling friendly and a green top is expected more or less.

“It will be a good wicket. It all depends on how the curator prepares the wicket,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. The former India captain has also pointed out that the newly produced SG pink balls are different from the Kookaburra ones that is used in Australia or the Dukes that is used in England and with a more prominent seam on this one, spinners might also be expected to play a huge role in the upcoming game.

On the other hand, Ganguly has made sure the first-ever pink-ball Test in India is nothing short of being a spectacle. There are plans to invite all the former Indian Test captain and felicitate them during the breaks in the match. Also invited to the historic occasion are Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in order to be part of history. Ganguly has promised it to be a full house at Eden.
