The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a post where it gave a friendly guide of how to combat the venom of the coronavirus pandemic. The entire world has been engulfed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation doesn’t seem to end anytime soon by any stretch of the imagination. There have been above 600 cases and the death tolls have gone up to as high as 15.

In the wake of the situation, Narendra Modi, the Honourable Prime Minister of India, announced that the country would go into a complete lockdown for 21 days until April 14. The cricket fraternity has also come forward to help out the ones affected in the last few days. Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president, said that he would be donating rice grains worth INR 50 lakhs for the poor.

India reeling from crisis

Due to the crisis, all the sporting events have been put to hold. India have also suffered quite a bit. Their home series against South Africa was shelved after the opening ODI in Dharamsala got abandoned due to rain. Even the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) had to be postponed. The T20 tournament was set to get underway on March 29, but that won’t be the case.

The Irani Cup and other domestic events have also been put to hold. Ganguly has also offered to give the iconic Eden Gardens for quarantine activity. The BCCI president told that he would be ready to support the Indian government to the extent he can. Even Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, and his wife Anushka Sharma, have come forward have made people aware of the need to staying indoors.

The duo posted a video, asking everyone to “wake up to the seriousness of this situation”  and follow the directives and guidelines. The BCCI used a rather innovative way to make people aware. They posted quite a few photos and captioned them wittily.

The BCCI’s guide read “Stay indoors, do not venture out. If you have to get out, maintain distance. Ensure you have a clean and safe pair of hands. Help with household chores. Pass on important information to everyone.”
