The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has spent approximately 84 crores on domestic cricket this season. The financials of logistics and other dealings from the BCCI has come following Shashank Manohar’s move to make the board more transparent.
The financials show that around 19 domestic tournaments are organized each year. Of the 19 tournaments, 6 are organized for senior men. These tournaments include the Ranji Trophy, the Duleep Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the Deodhar Trophy and the Irani Trophy. Six more of the 19 tournaments are organized for junior cricketers. The DY Patil T20 tournament is perhaps the most prominent of these tournaments.
The report also shows that 7 Women tournaments are hosted, 3 for the seniors and 4 for the juniors. The total number of matches played in all of these tournaments is a mammoth 892. It is also reported that approximately 1800 days are consumed in the entire year for the 892 matches to be played.
The expenses also include 111 umpires and 49 match referees who are under the employment of the BCCI. The 49 match referees include 4 women on the list. The expenses also include 170 video analysts and 162 match scorers. The BCCI has also employed a vendor for the procurement of cricket balls. This includes SG manufactured balls for the First class matches while the Kookaburra ball is used in the limited-over formats.
The specifications of the ball are a 156-gram weight for the men while a 142-gram ball is used for women. In addition, an SG special ball is prepared for the junior levels for men. The total expenditure amounts to approximately 84.26 crores. The financials are as per the report shared on the Facebook page of the BCCI.
The disclosure of these financials comes following allegations of non-transparency toward the BCCI.
