Prior to the match between England and Pakistan, all-rounder Ben Stokes got hit on the groin area rather unexpectedly while practising in the nets. The England team was undergoing a session before the all-important semi-final clash against the Men in Green at Cardiff. However, following the hit, Stokes was infuriated and decimated the stumps behind him. It looked evident that he will vent out all his resentment in the upcoming deliveries. And quite rightly so.

The New Zealand-born English cricketer then smashed the next few balls. He didn’t spare any bowler in the nets, including his teammate Moeen Ali and showed glimpses of what he is capable of if he’s fired up. Stokes has incredible power and sound technique as a batsman to tear apart any bowling attack. There’s not only power about this man’s strokeplay but also a lot of quality.

The all-rounder has been extremely clinical of late for the Three Lions scoring a hundred against Australia at Edgbaston. His innings comprised of 13 fours and 2 sixes. And with his unmatched power-hitting and strokeplay, the 26-year-old provides a major boost to the English middle order.

They will be aiming to win their second ICC tournament, after winning the World T20 in 2009. Led by skipper Eoin Morgan, the hosts have left no stones unturned in preparing for the showpiece event. The English squad has phenomenal firepower at the top and with the services of their wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan, their batting unit is quite a force to reckon with.

Although England might lack experience in the bowling department, there’s no dearth of raw pace. Both Jake Ball and Mark Wood can easily tick the high 140s and have the ability to swing it both ways in testing conditions. England finished runners-up in 2013.
