England all-rounder Ben Stokes who is surrounded with controversy these days will marry his fiancee Clare Ratcliffe this weekend on October 14. The cricketer is all set to make an emotional return to the West Country again for the first time since the street brawl outside the bar in Bristol a few weeks ago. The couple will tie the knot at the church of St Mary the Virgin, just across the road from Clare’s widowed mother, Jane, in East Brent, near Weston-super-Mare, in Somerset, at 12 noon this Saturday.

Post marriage, the reception is understood to be taking place at the 16th-century Rookery Manor a four-star country house hotel and spa in nearby Edingworth which can accommodate almost up to 400 guests. The marriage ceremony is being described as ‘divine and spiritual’. Stokes has been in the relationship with Clare for last seven years.

Clare revealed the news

Clare Ratcliffe, the fiancee of Ben Stokes, revealed the news of both getting married on social media website Instagram. She posted a picture of the cricketer wearing their daughter’s bag and wrote, “’Four weeks today…I marry this man! The man wearing a Little Mermaid backpack!’” Finally, things look going the way of Stokes after being the news for all the wrong reasons in the last month.

Investigation over street brawl continues

However, the police investigation over the street brawl in which Stokes injured the war veteran is still going on. They have refused to prioritise the case and are waiting for the witnesses to appear in front of them and take the case forward. ECB is also set to take strict action on him as it is being speculated that the all-rounder might be out of the side for the whole winter. His name has also been withdrawn from the Ashes squad which will travel down under. Ashes is scheduled to begin on November 22 in Brisbane at Gabba. The former Australian cricketers have already made statements of England being annihilated on the tour in the absence of Stokes.
