The City of Bengaluru will host the annual auction for the 2017 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla also released a statement regarding the same stating that the proposal for the start of the Indian Premier League was that it was set to begin on the fifth of April and it will go down till 21st of May.

Shukla then went on to announce that the fourth of February would be the day when the BCCI and the IPL committee do indeed have the auction. The IPL auction has generally tended to make things interesting for those watching many worldwide stars go under the hammer. Although it is done behind closed doors, it is clear that there will be a large television audience.

BCCI President Anurag Thakur, BCCI Secretary Ajay Shirke, IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla, former India captain Sourav Ganguly, Jharkhand Cricket Association chief Amitabh Choudhary and Punjab Cricket Association President MP Pandove attended the meeting.

“There is a proposal to start IPL 10 from April 5,” IPL Governing Council chairman Rajeev Shukla said. “The auctions will happen in Bengaluru on February 4.

Shukla also added that the Indians had to keep it a week away from the series against Australia. This would mean that the Aussie players associated with the IPL would have to extend their stay in India to play the IPL.”We had to keep a gap of one week after the Australia series.”

The previous season of the IPL saw many venues across the country call off matches due to the insufficient amount of water. “We will have water harvesting technology at stadiums in Maharashtra to counter drought threat in the state,” Shukla added. “We will ensure that we can generate our own water to maintain stadiums.”

The previous year, Dharamsala and Mumbai were relieved of all their matches due to the fact that there was insufficient water available in the state.
