Bharat Arun claims that Indian fast bowlers are a precious commodity

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane helped India in setting a good target for Australia. But the main credit for the historic win in the Adelaide Test goes to the Indian bowlers. After most batsmen failed in the first innings, Indian bowlers stepped up as India got a small but very important first innings lead. The pitch was assisting spin and didn’t have much help for the pacers, especially in the first innings.

The Indian fast bowling trio can give themselves a pat on the back for picking 14 priceless wickets. This is a long Test series in Australian heat and the team management needs to manage their workload. Former England captain Michael Vaughan tweeted that Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma gave up their business class seats so Indian fast bowlers can get a more comfortable journey.

Bharat Arun bats for Indian fast bowlers

We don’t know who two among the pace trio got the seats given up by Mr. and Mrs. Kohli. This concern by Virat Kohli for his teammates show his leadership qualities. The Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun was requested to give his views about this gesture. Arun said that the Indian pacers are a precious commodity and they need to be rested if India wants to use their services throughout the Test series.

“Fast bowlers are a precious commodity and they need to be taken care like what you do with a racehorse. That’s exactly what’s happening,” Arun told reporters as quoted in India Today.

The Indian bowling coach does have a point as the pace trio had to work hard in the first Test. The three combined to bowl 123.4 overs in the two innings of the first Test match.

Bharat Arun warned Indian team against complacency

The Indian bowling coach gave due credit to the Australian team for their performance in the first Test. He admitted that it is not going to be easy for the Indian team to beat Australia at their home.

“Australia played exceptionally well chasing 323 in the last innings. It’s not going to be easy, we are also aware that it’s their home conditions and any team to beat on their home soil will be extremely difficult. Australia will be coming hard at us, we are quite aware, but we will stick to the plans that work for us,” he added.
