Betting on cricket matches is getting massively out of hand in the country as the Indian Premier League (IPL) season is currently underway. While the law enforcement authorities have been constantly taking down such rackets and seizing shocking amounts of money, news of similar busts keep pouring in regularly. A couple of days ago it was reported that Kolkata Police had busted a huge betting racket and on Saturday, Bhopal Police busted an illegal betting racket in the city.
While in Kolkata the cops nabbed suspects at the Eden Gardens Stadium during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. In Bhopal, the police seized INR 1 crore, apart from devices used to place bets like mobile phones and laptops from the bookies. The authorities arrested 10 people as well for running the said racket.
Bhopal police bust IPL betting racket
After being tipped by a source, a special team was formed to bust the betting racket and on Saturday, after 15 days of investigation, they got into action and completed the operation. The investigation unearthed facts that the gang was running the betting racket through two websites namely LIVE365.COM and Krishnaexchange.com.
Naresh Hemnani, Jaspal Singh and Bharat Soni have been identified as the main accused for operating the racket in the city, which is estimated to be worth INR 500 crore. It is considered a huge success for the local police having caught the accused and confiscated their belongings in relation to the crime.

Meanwhile, Super Sunday of IPL 2019 will see Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the day match, while Chennai Super Kings will face off against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second match of the day.
