India were the hot favourites along with England to win the 2019 World Cup. But they lost the semi-final against New Zealand by 18 runs which left the fans heartbroken. England and the Kiwis will fight it out for the elusive trophy on Sunday at the iconic Lord’s. However, taking a dig at the political happenings in the country, the former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi has carved out a way for the Men in Blue to play in the title clash.

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is in the headlines nowadays for being able to form the government despite losing the elections. In Goa, they won only 13 seats out of 40 and then managed to induct almost all the Congress MLAs to secure the majority. In Karnataka too, BJP is known to have played a role in bringing down the Congress and JDS coalition government to a minority.

In reference to the same, Bishan Singh Bedi put up a sarcastic tweet stating that the BJP will force the New Zealand team to resign ahead of the final and Virat Kohli-led Team India will face England on Sunday. “Meanwhile BJP is in touch with New Zealand team..who have reportedly agreed to resign & join team India..who will then play in the Finals at Lord’s..!!” Bedi’s tweet read.

Here’s his tweet:

New World Cup winner to emerge on Sunday

Meanwhile, history beckons on Sunday whoever wins the World Cup. England and New Zealand both are yet to win the mega event. While the Eoin Morgan-led side is playing its first final since 1992, the BlackCaps have made it to their second successive final. They were brushed aside comfortably by Australia in 2015 and they will be eager to make amends this time around.

Both the sides have lost three matches so far in the tournament but they played fantastic cricket when it mattered the most and deserve to play the final at the Home of Cricket.
