Bjorn Fortuin breaks into South Africa 'A' squad

Highveld Lions all-rounder, Bjorn Fortuin, has earned a much-deserved place in the South African ‘A’ four-day squad for the upcoming series against Australia ‘A’. Fortuin is a talented 22-year-old spinning all-rounder from Johannesburg who has been knocking at the doors of the selectors recently.

The young all-rounder has already scored as many as 1062 runs in his first-class career in the 26 matches he has played with the best score of 194. Bjorn Fortuin has picked up 63 wickets along with scoring all those runsApart from Fortuin, Omphile Ramela has also been recalled to the side. David Miller, Wayne Parnell, and Dwayne Pretorius, who were also part of the recently concluded Champions Trophy were also included in the lineup.

“The SA A side had a disappointing tour of England. This series together with the following four-day series against India ‘A’ is a very important one. The additions to the squad bring a lot of top-level experience with them and this will help the younger players to develop.” stated Cricket South Africa (CSA) selection convener, Linda Zondi, according to Sports24.

“Fortuin did very well for the SA Emerging Squad against their Sri Lanka counterparts last year when he took 12 wickets in the first match and played a pivotal role in their winning the series. He has also been a regular member of the Lions franchise squad for some time and we feel he is ready for the next step up.” further added Zondi
