In the latest turn of events surrounding IPL sponsorship, Dream11 has won the title sponsorship right for the 13th season of the Indian Premier League. IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed that Dream11 outbid the likes of Unacademy, Byjus, and Tata, and bagged the sponsorship for whopping Rs 222 crores.

The fancy tournament of the year is set to stage under a strict bio-secure bubble from September 19-November 10. The action will take place at 3-venues namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

The BCCI’s preparations are in the final phase where all the 8- franchises have been handed over the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the smooth conduct of IPL 2020. According to SOP’s, franchises have been given guidelines based on 8- parameters.

Last month witnessed the split between The Board of Cricket Control for India and Vivo for the partnership of the IPL 2020 season. Following violent face-off between India and Chinese troops, where 20 soldiers including a colonel was martyred in Galwan Valley, there has been a huge outcry to boycott Chinese products from the Indian market.

In the wake of this dreadful incident, Vivo lost sponsorship rights of IPL 2020, and the market saw new players bidding up. However, with Dream11 bagging the title sponsorship of 2020 season, Twitterati went into a frenzy.

Here are some of the best reactions:

Following IPL sponsorship and especially in light of sticking to Indian brands, there was news that Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali will be bidding for IPL sponsorship, but with Dream11 sealing the deal with such handsome amount, all the speculations have been put to rest.

Twitter went into splits after Patanjali was nowhere to be seen and have been trolling the brand since then. Unacademy placed 170 crores on the table followed by Tata with around 180 crores and Byjus 201 crore, but Dream11 outbid all of them with placing massive 222 crores.

The teams are currently gearing up for the big tournament coming up next month. Most of them are expected to fly around 21 August to the gulf country where they will undergo quarantine of at least 6 days before showing up on the field. As per protocols laid by the BCCI, a player has to test negative twice before joining the squad and will be tested once again upon reaching UAE.
