After a patchy first game as the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma made amends in the Mohali ODI. He did so in a tremendous fashion. The Indian opener became the first ever cricketer to hit three double hundreds in One-Day Internationals. Team India managed to win its first game under Rohit’s captaincy.

Having been dismissed cheaply in the first ODI, the opener was in full swing in Mohali. Compared to the first game where the whole team was bundled for 112 runs, it was completely the opposite scenario this time around. Both Shikhar Dhawan and the skipper combined for a splendid 115-run partnership for the first wicket.

While Dhawan got out for 68, Shreyas Iyer made full use of this opportunity. Coming out at No.3, the youngster batted brilliantly for his knock of 88 (70). He fell short of what would have been a well deserved hundred. He and Rohit combined for a splendour partnership of 213 runs for the second wicket.

However, the star of the day was the HitMan. The batsman produced some of the most delicate shots you had ever see. While he scored some magnificent shots on his way to the century, it was the next hundred runs that unleashed the beast out of him. Rohit became the first ever cricketer to score 3 double centuries in ODIs.

In an innings worth 208* runs from just 153 balls, the dashing opener hit 13 boundaries and 12 sixes to reach the landmark. He batted with a staggering strike rate of 135.9. His wife Ritika Sajdeh who was present at the stands couldn’t control her tears as Rohit reached his 200.

Twitter was already flooded with tweets appreciating Rohit as he was trending at No.1. Bollywood celebrities also took up to the social networking site as they congratulated the Indian batsman for playing a fantastic knock.

Here we have some of the tweets from the B-Town congratulating the Indian skipper:
