Consolidating their status as the best team in the BPL, Dhaka Dynamites put up a sensational performance on a wonderful Sunday afternoon. Windies opener Evin Lewis and Proteas T20 specialist Cameron Delport blasted the Khulna Titan away with the bat and with superb reciprocation from the bowlers, there was no competition for Shakib and troops.

Batting first, Kumar Sangakkara opened the innings alongside Evin Lewis and the duo did get off to a flying start. Though they didn’t add a huge partnership, they added 38 runs for the first wicket inside 4 overs and Sangakkara walked back. What followed next was absolute carnage and the Lewis-Delport duo disparaged every effort coming from the bowlers.

The run-rate soon escalated from 9 an over to around 12 at a point, with Delport and Lewis both fighting against each other for supremacy. A healthy banter between these players over who is a cleaner striker of the cricket ball pounded hard on the morale of the Titans as the duo added 116 runs in just 54 balls.

Both players registered half-centuries and just when people fly the score will fleet over the 220 mark, both batsmen fell in a span of eight balls. With a decent contribution coming from Sunil Narine at the end, the Dynamites went past the 200 mark and though they lost the momentum in the final few stages with quick wickets falling, their score was still a huge one.

Spot on from the bowlers!

The Khulna batsmen lacked the venom to stay on level terms with the bowlers. Chadwick Walton though was an exception as the lad did manage to get going right from the outset. He provided exactly the kind of start Khulna would’ve wanted chasing a 200+ target. Nevertheless, there was no support from the other end as the bowlers ran riot.

It was a peculiar decision to send Carlos Brathwaite at number 3 and though the motive behind that was clear, it worked horribly. Brathwaite was dismissed for a golden duck and the collapse began. Rilee Rossouw started off well but a gave away his wicket. Walton was the next to go after a quick-fire and he departed after a well made 30 off just 13 balls.

Skipper Mahmudullah failed to make an impact, so did Ariful Haque, the expensive pick in the auction for the Titans. Wickets fell in quick succession for the Titans and there was a situation where people felt they’ll get wrapped up inside the 100-mark. But they did manage to avert that humiliation thanks to a decent effort from the Caribbean all-rounder Jofra Archer.

He stitched a 40-run partnership for the 8th wicket with Mosharraf Hossain and that helped them post something decent on the board. When Archer got dismissed in the 17th over for a well-made 36 off 24 balls, the rest of the proceedings were a mere formality for Dhaka. The spinners, who were taken for a lot of runs initially, did manage to pull things back in the death.

Dhaka managed to grab a thumping 65-run win, which justifies their status as the favorites to pick another trophy. Abu Haider Rony was the star of the evening with the ball as he returned with figures of 3/13.
