BPL 3 Match 25 Review: Dhaka Dynamites v Chittagong Vikings, Vikings stumble down chasing a modest target
2 Min Read

The Chittagong Vikings disappointingly folded for a mere 76 runs while chasing an easy target of 121 runs set by the Dhaka Dynamites. Mosharraf Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman were too much to handle for the Vikings.
Earlier in the day, the Dynamites skipper Kumara Sangakkara won the toss and decided to take the field first. Dynamites surprised everyone by sending Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah to open the innings with Shykat Ali. This unusual move did not work as Yasir Shah was undone by Asif Hasan in the third over. The next over saw Shykat Ali struggling against Shafiul Islam and eventually losing his wicket to him in the fourth delivery of the same over.
Hafeez came in next to bat but could not survive the brilliance of M. Amir. Dynamites were simmered down to 14/3 in the 5th over. The middle order somehow managed to contribute. Although there was no solid partnership in between, Sanga (38 runs from 26 balls), Mossadek Hossain (24 runs from 29 balls) and MN Waller (19 runs 10 balls) took the Dynamites to a functional score of 121 at the end of the 20th over.
In reply, the Vikings batsmen also lost early wickets as both the openers, T. Dilshan and Tamim Iqbal departed in the space of first three over. The downfall continued. Anamul Haque was caught and bowled by leggie Yasir Shah while Yasir Ali was run out by Waller.
The wickets kept tumbling from time to time as Mosharraf Hossain (4/16) and Mustafizur Rahman (2/7) ran through the Vikings’ batting order. The lower middle order also could not do anything remarkable. The Vikings were already one batsman short as Ziuar Rehman was ‘absent hurt.’ Thus, their lacklustre efforts finally ended in the 17th over with just 76 runs on the board.
The Dhaka Dynamites bowlers led by Mosharraf Hossain, made an outstanding comeback into the game, striking at regular intervals throughout the game to win the game by 45 runs for their team.
Chittagong Vikings batsmen wasted the brilliant efforts by their bowlers Mohammad Amir (3/18) and Shafiul Islam (3/21) who restricted Dhaka Dynamites for a humble total of 121.
With such an easy target to chase, the task seemed to be very easy for the Vikings’ batsman. However, that was not the case, as they proved once again that why they have been lying at the bottom of the points table.
