Brad Hogg, on his official Youtube channel, picked his current best Test XI. He didn’t pick India skipper Virat Kohli in the side only to invited the ire of the fans. Moreover, he preferred Babar Azam ahead of Kohli and opted to give the team’s mantle to South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock.

However, Hogg gave a proper reasons for not preferring the Indian captain in his team stating that his current form isn’t good at all. He pointed out that Kohli has crossed the 30-run mark only four times in last 15 innings in the longest format of the game. He also highlighted Babar Azam’s impeccable century at The Gabba last year when Pakistan toured down under.

“Everyone will ask why is Virat Kohli not in this team? But if you look at his last 15 Test innings, only four times he has gone over 31 [runs]. That’s why Virat Kohli is not in my Test team this year. The reason why I have included Babar Azam in the lineup is that he scored a hundred against Australia in Brisbane when Pakistan toured Australia last year,” the 49-year-old had said.

As far as the rest of the team is concerned, Brad Hogg went with Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma to open the innings while also picking Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith in the middle-order. Ajinkya Rahane and Mohammed Shami were the other Indian players to make it to his team.

Twitter not impresses with Brad Hogg

Though Brad Hogg gave proper reasons for dropping Virat Kohli from his best XI in Tests, Twitterati didn’t like it by means. Moreover, the fact that he picked Babar Azam ahead of Kohli has left the fans fuming as the former doesn’t have a decent record compared to the India skipper in Tests.

The fans always compare the two batsmen in order to find out who is the best. Babar himself has time and again stated that there is no comparison between him and Kohli and the latter is a brilliant batsman. Moreover, Pakistan’s ODI and T20I skipper only forayed into international cricket in 2015 and still has a long way to go.

For the same reason, the fans are livid over Brad Hogg for going with Babar Azam. However, the team has been purely picked on the basis of the current form which the fans have supposedly missed.

Here’s how Brad Hogg was trolled:
