Former Australia cricketer Brett Lee has made no secret of his love for India. Currently, the iconic fast bowler is in India covering the limited overs series between India and Australia as a commentator. Lee has played a fair bit of cricket in this part of the world and was a heart-rob for a lot of female spectators for his charming personality.

The 40-year old took to Twitter to wish the Prime Minister of India on his birthday on Sunday. PM Modi turned 67 yesterday and a lot of people poured their wishes to the veteran politician on his special day and Lee was no exception. PM Modi has a keen interest in cricket and was seen felicitating the Women’s World Cup team recently for their fine showing in the World Cup in England.

Brett Lee’s message to the PM was short and sweet. He wrote: “Wishing you a very happy birthday @narendramodi”

Lee delights fans for his gesture

Ever since he was elected as the Prime Minister of India, Modi has a huge fan base in all parts of the country. His fans were amazed to see Lee, an Australian, wishing the Indian PM and were quick to reply to the tweet. While some called him an Indian citizen for his love for the country, a few thanked Lee on behalf of the entire country.

Lee’s exploits in the IPL

Brett Lee was an integral part of the IPL during his playing days. He plied his trade first for Kings XI Punjab before he was roped in by 2-time champions KKR. His IPL record is sub-standard if you compare it to his lofty standards – 25 wickets from 38 games at 43.80. His economy rate of 7.50 is a saving grace for one of the fastest bowlers to have played cricket. 2 years into retirement, the Australian is now pursuing a full-time career in media.
